Password Requirements for CMS Professional 2010 SP2

Password requirements for PA-DSS validation/PCI compliancy
(affects all users of CMS Professional 2010 SP2 and later, regardless of whether or not credit/debit cards are accepted)
  • No blank password are allowed
  • Passwords must be a minimum of seven characters in length
  • Passwords must contain both alpha and numeric characters (i.e., A123456 or aaaaaa1)
  • Passwords must be changed every 90 days from the reset date

 

Password change options:

First time you launch CMS Professional after installing SP2

  1. When you open CMS and attempt to use your old password (or enter a blank), this message appears: “You must set or reset your user password to continue. The password must meet the following: cannot be blank, minimum seven characters, and alphanumeric (i.e., A123456 or 123456B are acceptable).”
  2. Click OK in the message window and the CMS Change Password window appears in which you can enter the new password (the Old Password field is grayed out). ***NOTE: This window only appears if you have rights to change passwords through the Main Menu security settings. Otherwise, the window will not appear and you will need to have an administrator reset it before you can log in.
  3. After you reset your password, you should have access to the program. If this is not the case, you need to force a Win-2-Win and try again.
Keep in mind that if you attempt to enter the wrong information six times, you will be locked out and have to contact Customer Support to reset your password. You will be charged support time to do so.

Modifying passwords before user access:

 
 For any users that have passwords that do not meet the required criteria, the system administrator or someone with rights can reset everyone's passwords using the CMS Change Password window before the users attempt to access the program.
